Learning and innovating by sailing the Mediterranean, the sea that symbolizes a united and supportive Europe. The Social Enterprise Boat Camp, is a new way of networking and thinking about economic models aimed at achieving the welfare of the community: from 28th to 31st May 2016 a cruise ship will set sail with over 400 young actors of civil society – young entrepreneurs, social innovators and operators of international cooperation.
The Boat Camp is organized by ACRA Foundation, CGM Cooperative Group and Opes Impact Fund with contributions from Coopermondo (the NGO of Confcooperative). Over 20 international speakers will participate and share their solutions to combine business and ethical values, sustainability and social inclusion.
International development cooperation, intended as an exchange of knowledge in order to fight poverty and hunger by foster a threefold sustainability (economic, social and environmental) is not less central in the discourse. Coopermondo will bring the experience of the Italian cooperative movement that helps in bringing economic democracy and development in the world through more than 70 projects of international cooperation
The topics of social entrepreneurship and cooperative and sustainable business models will drive the workshops and reflections that characterize these four days on the Mediterranean, a sea that increasingly challenge Europe and calls to unity and greater solidarity.
The challenges posed by the UN 2030 Agenda, the crisis of migrants and youth unemployment will be the focus of the debate in order to find alternative and innovative solutions to these problems.
The trip will begin in Rome, where the ship will set sail on May 28th and will be headed to Barcelona where, on May 30th there will be a meeting with local social enterprises. Finally, return to Rome is scheduled for May 31st.
