The intervention area – the city of Bo and Kakua district – is a rural area that, during the civil war, has been severely affected by the destruction and looting of crops.
The creation of a “training center for aquaculture” aims not only to achieve food security by ensuring a healthier and rich in protein diet for everyone, especially for children, but also to ensure sustainable economic growth of household in the project communities.
During the Ebola outbreak that hit Sierra Leone in 2014 – 2015, Coopermondo collaborated with local partners to actively counter the spread of the epidemic in the areas in which it operates.
Among the achievements:
- An operative center for training and production of aquaculture
- 300 technicians were trained in the construction of the tanks, the management of the production cycle and in the organization cooperative.
- Ebola emergency response with prevention training and awareness and the distribution of food and first aid materials (especially areas that have remained isolated)
