Maratane is an agricultural village, 30 km far away from Nampula. In 2001, it was opened a center for refugees from Mozambique, which welcomes both locals and refugees and asylum seekers from the Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Burundi, Somalia and other African countries. The permanence in the Centre is a long-term stay and this means having to respond correctly to the primary needs of its guests. The contribution of Solidea has served to support awareness-raising activities on food safety issues, on the importance of primary education, vocational training and linguistic knowledge and on health and hygiene standards of the guests
